The Luka State Announces First-Ever North American Headlining Tour

May 31, 2022

Working-class UK quartet  The Luka State announced their first-ever national headlining tour of the US today. Kicking off September 13 at Mercury Lounge in NYC, the tour will cross the country hitting Detroit, Nashville, Chicago, Austin, Denver, and more before closing out with a four-show California run in October. Tickets are on sale now and a complete list of tour dates can be found below.

The Luka State are hot off their recently released single “Bring Us Down” which debuted worldwide on BBC Music Introducing, hailed by Steve Lamacq at BBC Radio 6 Music, and added to hundreds of DSP playlists. Speaking on their new single the band says, “This song is about putting haters in their place and doing it your own way. Something I think every growing band has to deal with. Being in a rock band from a small town is like rolling the dice every day and trying to win the lottery. It ain't easy.

Hailing from the North West England town of Winsford, Cheshire – somewhere between Manchester and Liverpool – and with biting social commentary running through all their songs, the group fits right into a burgeoning UK rock scene with IDLES, Kid Kapichi, and The Blinders.

The Luka State are Conrad Ellis (voice, guitar), Sam Bell (bass, voice), Jake Barnabas (drums), and Lewis Pusey (guitars) and they hail from Winsford in Cheshire. The town is famous for salt mining but, just as interesting is the fact that it's halfway between Liverpool and Manchester – hence, every kid in the town wants to be a footballer or pop star the minute they can kick a ball or play a guitar. The Luka State chose music, although it was a close call for Jake who was a semi-professional footballer before Conrad and Sam saw him playing drums at a festival and said ”we are going to steal him” and, empirically, you’ll sense this by the energy and originality of the songs they perform live and on record.

The band is currently finishing up a UK/EU tour and looking forward to their first run in the States this September.
